Job Description

Responsibilities

Position

Purchaser

Industry

Marine / Shipping / Technical Procurement

Salary Range

SGD: 2,500 – 4,500
(Commensurate with experience, qualifications, and suitability)

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement & Sourcing

  • Source, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers locally and globally.
  • Obtain competitive quotations and support cost reduction initiatives.
  • Identify alternative suppliers for better pricing, quality, and delivery performance.

Tendering / Negotiation / Commercial Management

  • Compare quotations, clarify specifications, and negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Recommend best value purchasing decisions based on cost, quality, and lead time.

Purchasing Operations

  • Manage full purchasing cycle from requisition to delivery.
  • Issue Purchase Orders, agreements, and follow up on deliveries.
  • Expedite urgent orders to meet vessel / project requirements.
  • Ensure goods received are in accordance with PO specifications and required standards.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain good working relationships with vendors, logistics providers, and internal departments.
  • Coordinate closely with operations, technical, and project teams on purchasing requirements..

Reporting & Cost Control

  • Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier database, price history, and order status.
  • Track actual cost versus budget where required.
  • Prepare regular purchasing reports.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Business Administration, Supply Chain, or equivalent.

Experience

  • Minimum 2–5 years relevant purchasing experience.
  • Candidates with marine / shipping industry experience highly preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Good negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Organized, meticulous, and detail-oriented.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Fast learner with strong follow-up skills.
  • Positive attitude and team player.
