Mechanical Technical Program Manager – Data Centres

Lead the mechanical engineering lifecycle across major APAC data centre projects, from design development and vendor selection through installation, commissioning and final handover. You will provide technical direction on cooling and building-services systems while coordinating consultants, contractors, equipment vendors and internal engineering teams.
About the role
You will lead and coordinate the development and delivery of mechanical engineering systems across an APAC data centre portfolio.
The position combines technical mechanical engineering credibility with programme leadership. You must be comfortable reviewing designs, challenging consultants, coordinating vendors, tracking technical risks and ensuring systems are installed, commissioned and handed over to the required standard.
Key responsibilities
- Lead mechanical system design development across products, programmes and the wider portfolio.
- Develop and standardise mechanical engineering packages, specifications and design requirements.
- Review mechanical designs before tender, bidding and construction.
- Translate operational and engineering requirements into coordinated design information.
- Provide technical advice throughout design, construction, commissioning and operation.
- Evaluate consultants, contractors and third-party vendors against technical and delivery requirements.
- Review vendor proposals, drawings, specifications and Autodesk Revit models.
- Coordinate internal engineering, design, construction, facilities, EHS and project stakeholders.
- Maintain technical issue, risk, action and mitigation trackers.
- Recommend improvements covering system performance, technology, cost and programme.
- Lead QA/QC reviews and support site installation inspections.
- Participate in and witness mechanical commissioning activities.
- Drive defects, inspections and technical actions through to closure.
- Review as-built documentation for acceptance and final handover.
- Produce weekly action updates, monthly reports and technical improvement presentations.
Requirements
- Strong mechanical engineering experience in data centres, semiconductor facilities, pharmaceutical facilities or other cooling-intensive mission-critical environments.
- Detailed knowledge of HVAC, ACMV, chilled-water systems, pumps, heat rejection and mechanical controls.
- Experience reviewing and challenging mechanical designs, specifications, calculations, drawings and vendor proposals.
- Experience taking mechanical systems through installation, testing, commissioning, defect closure and handover.
- Experience managing consultants, contractors and equipment vendors.
- Able to work on site at a data centre in Singapore.
Desirable background
- Experience developing standardised mechanical design packages or repeatable engineering products.
- Exposure to hyperscale, colocation or large campus data centre environments.
- Knowledge of HVAC, chilled-water systems, air handling, pumps, heat rejection and associated controls.
- Experience reviewing Revit models and multidisciplinary design coordination.
- Understanding of lifecycle cost, energy efficiency, resilience and total cost of ownership.
- Experience supporting projects or engineering programmes across APAC.
