Your Job

As a Facilities Engineer (Mechanical), you will be responsible for ensuring the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of critical mechanical utility systems that support manufacturing operations. This role focuses on facility maintenance, system optimisation, infrastructure projects, contractor management, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives to maximise equipment uptime and operational efficiency.

Our Team

You will be part of the Facilities Engineering team, supporting the operation and maintenance of critical plant utilities and building infrastructure. Working closely with production, EHS, contractors, and cross-functional stakeholders, the team is responsible for maintaining safe, reliable, and compliant facility systems while driving continuous improvement and energy efficiency initiatives across the site.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the daily operation, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance activities for critical mechanical utility systems, including CDA, HVAC, chillers, vacuum, exhaust, and fire protection systems.
  • Monitor and analyse system parameters such as pressure, temperature, flow rate, and air quality through SCADA/BMS platforms and field inspections to ensure operational stability and reliability.
  • Conduct capacity assessments and system optimisation initiatives to improve equipment performance, enhance reliability, and minimise downtime.
  • Review, update, and maintain P&ID drawings, equipment records, maintenance procedures, and facility documentation.
  • Oversee the operation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems, including Fire Alarm, Fire Pump, Sprinkler, and Fire Hydrant systems, ensuring compliance with BOMBA, MS 1910, and NFPA standards.
  • Coordinate fire drills and support emergency response activities involving facility systems and infrastructure.
  • Drive the timely resolution of audit findings and maintain valid certifications and statutory compliance requirements for fire protection systems.
  • Monitor and maintain CDA system performance to ensure air quality compliance with applicable ISO standards for manufacturing operations.
  • Perform leak audits and implement continuous improvement projects to reduce compressed air losses and improve energy efficiency.
  • Coordinate maintenance and servicing activities for air compressors, dryers, filters, and condensate drainage systems.
  • Plan, design, and execute facility improvement projects, including system upgrades, new equipment installations, utility expansions, and infrastructure enhancement initiatives.
  • Prepare technical specifications, evaluate contractor proposals, and ensure project designs comply with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, risks, and deliverables throughout the project lifecycle, from planning through commissioning and handover.
  • Supervise external contractors and service providers performing maintenance, calibration, testing, and installation activities.
  • Conduct vendor evaluations and performance reviews while ensuring all contracted work is completed safely and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Verify service reports, replacement parts, maintenance records, and project documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Monitor utility consumption trends and support site-wide energy management initiatives under the ISO 50001 framework.
  • Conduct efficiency assessments on compressor, chiller, and HVAC systems to identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
  • Implement optimisation programmes such as load sharing, automation, and inverter control strategies to improve system efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
  • Maintain comprehensive maintenance records, inspection reports, calibration certificates, and statutory documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with DOSH, BOMBA, DOE, and Local Authority requirements relating to facility operations.
  • Support internal and external audits associated with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 certification programmes.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure safe work practices are consistently applied across all facility activities.
  • Provide technical coaching and mentoring to technicians, enhancing their troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical competencies.
  • Participate in daily Gemba and production meetings to ensure facility support aligns with operational requirements and business priorities.
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations for equipment failures and system disruptions, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Benchmark system performance and reliability metrics while driving initiatives to improve uptime and operational effectiveness.
  • Champion TPM initiatives, including Autonomous Maintenance, Kaizen activities, and continuous improvement programmes within facility operations.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities engineering, utility systems operation, maintenance, or industrial building infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience managing mechanical utility systems such as HVAC, chillers, compressed air systems, vacuum systems, exhaust systems, and fire protection systems.
  • Experience in facility maintenance, contractor management, equipment troubleshooting, and project execution within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of DOSH, BOMBA, DOE, and ISO management systems related to facility operations.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience leading facility expansion, utility upgrade, or infrastructure improvement projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with SCADA, BMS, and energy monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge of ISO 50001 energy management practices and energy optimisation programmes.
  • Experience supporting ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 certification audits.
  • Strong background in TPM, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), reliability improvement, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience working with cleanroom environments or semiconductor/electronics manufacturing facilities.
