Defond Electrical Industries Limited Hiring! Full Time Assistant Manager, Mechanical Engineering in Hong Kong - Ricebowl

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop mechanical parts for home appliance user interface modules (UIM), including control panels, touch/display interfaces, housings, buttons, knobs, and light guides.

• Prepare 3D/2D drawings, specifications, BOMs, and support new product development (NPD/NPI).

• Review and improve designs for manufacturability, assembly, quality, cost, and production efficiency.

• Support tooling review, pilot runs, production ramp-up, and mass production.

• Troubleshoot engineering and production issues and drive corrective actions.

• Work closely with manufacturing, quality, electronics, firmware, tooling, and project teams.

• Conduct design reviews and provide coaching to junior mechanical engineers.

• Prepare project reports and engineering documentation.

• Develop test plans, coordinate testing, and analyze product improvements during NPI.

• Handle RFQs, customer complaints, and provide technical support to internal teams.

Requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

• 5+ years of product design and development experience in home appliances, control modules, UIM, or related products.

• Strong knowledge of plastic and metal materials, manufacturing processes, and tooling.

• Familiar with the full product development cycle, from concept design to mass production.

• Knowledge of DFMEA, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, and problem-solving methodologies.

• Proficient in Creo (3D & 2D CAD).

• Experience with control panels, touch/display modules, waterproof structures, cosmetic parts, buttons, knobs, or similar products is an advantage.

• Good understanding of injection molding, surface finishing, printing, bonding, assembly, testing, and quality control.

• Able to mentor junior engineers and lead design activities independently.

• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

• Good written and spoken English and Mandarin.

• Self-motivated, responsible, and able to work under pressure.
