JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities:

The Flexographic Printer Supervisor oversees flexographic printing operations for industrial paper bag production. This role ensures accurate print quality on kraft paper substrates, proper cliché preparation and efficient machine performance to meet production & customer specifications.

1. Production & Workflow Management

· Supervise daily flexographic printing operations.

· Coordinate printing schedules based on bag conversion and delivery timelines.

· Ensure smooth workflow between printing, tube forming and bag finishing processes.

· Minimize downtime and optimize production efficiency.

2. Daily Task

· Check ink inventory stock level, record and report to Supplier.

· Prepare cliché on the rack and tools for pre-printer operators use, at least 2 days in advance.

· Validate and correct work orders in DACO & SAP system without any delay.

· Ensure condition of anilox, doctor blade and slitting knife is in good working condition.

· Inspect and report pre-printer machine abnormalities to Maintenance Team immediately.

3. Cliché (Printing Plate) Preparation & Mounting

· Oversee preparation and inspection of printing clichés.

· Ensure correct plate selection based on artwork and bag size.

· Supervise plate mounting, alignment and registration on cylinders.

· Verify tape thickness and mounting accuracy for consistent print results.

4. Print Quality Control

· Check print clarity, registration, and ink adhesion.

· Monitor common issues such as ink spreading, feathering and uneven absorption.

· Approve first print samples before full production.

· Perform in-process quality checks to maintain consistency across batches.

5. Ink & Substrate Management

· Ensure proper ink formulation used.

· Monitor viscosity, drying speed, and absorption behaviour on kraft paper.

· Adjust ink density and anilox roller selection for optimal coverage.

· Control ink usage to reduce waste while maintaining quality.

6. Machine Setup & Troubleshooting

· Oversee setup of flexographic printing machines and machine troubleshooting

· Coordinate with maintenance team for repairs and preventive maintenance.

7. Team Leadership & Training

· Supervise operators, helpers, and technicians on the printing line.

· Train staff on flexographic printing techniques

· Ensure proper handling of paper reels, plates, and inks.

· Promote safety, discipline, and teamwork on the production floor.

8. Coordination with Other Departments

Work closely with:

· Design/prepress team for artwork and plate readiness.

· Production team for bag conversion processes.

· Quality assurance team for compliance with standards

· Ensure smooth transition from printing to bag forming.

9. Documentation & Reporting

· Maintain production logs, print quality records, and machine reports.

· Track wastage, defects, and downtime.

· Report production performance and issues to management.

10. Safety & Compliance

· Ensure safe handling of inks, and chemicals.

· Enforce PPE usage and machine safety procedures.

· Maintain a clean and organized printing area.

Requirements

· Experience in flexographic printing, preferably in paper bag or packaging industry.

· Strong knowledge of printing on kraft paper substrates.

· Hands-on experience with cliché mounting and colour control.

· Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

· Familiarity with multiwall or industrial bag production is an advantage.
