Role Description This is a full-time Backend Systems Architect role based in Kuala Lumpur City, offered as a hybrid position with flexibility for some work from home. The Backend Systems Architect will design and document backend system architectures, ensuring scalability, reliability, performance, and security across distributed services. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with product and engineering teams to translate requirements into technical designs, guiding systems design decisions, and setting standards for integration between services and external systems. The role involves reviewing and improving existing backend implementations, performing architectural reviews, and mentoring software developers on best practices in systems engineering and integration. The architect will also participate in technology selection, proof-of-concept development, and continuous improvement of the overall backend ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Strong System Architecture and Systems Design skills to define scalable, secure, and maintainable backend platforms.
• Hands-on experience in Software Development and Systems Engineering to implement and validate architectural decisions.
• Proficiency in Integration, including APIs, microservices communication, and interfacing with third-party systems.
• Experience with modern backend technologies (e.g., Node.js, Java, Go, or similar), databases (SQL/NoSQL), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Knowledge of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and performance optimization techniques.
• Ability to create clear architectural documentation, diagrams, and technical specifications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in R&D or working with emerging technologies and market-driven projects is an advantage.
