Job Description

Responsibilities

At ST Engineering Land Systems, we develop and deliver next-generation military platforms that meet evolving operational requirements and enhance mission capability. The Structure and Mechanisation Centre is integral to the design of military vehicle structures and systems, encompassing Crew-centric systems, Man-Machine Interface designs and Body Systems. Our work ensures functionality, robustness, and user-centric design in every platform we deliver.

As part of a global engineering and defence group, we strive to push the boundaries of design innovation and advanced manufacturing. Join us as we shape the future of land mobility through precision engineering and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for Crew Systems hardware — including hatches, doors, seats, restraints, internal fixtures, equipment mounts, and stowage modules — from concept through production release
  • Generate detailed 3D models, drawings, and design documentation in accordance with project and manufacturing requirements
  • Perform trade studies, tolerance analysis, and mechanical design calculations, incorporating structural, human-factors analysis, and FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) in collaboration with specialist engineers
  • Integrate Crew System designs with structural and internal subsystems to ensure spatial compatibility, ergonomics, and maintainability
  • Evaluate design feasibility, accessibility, and assembly considerations through cross-functional design reviews (PDR, CDR) and mock-up validation, presenting technical rationale to stakeholders
  • Support prototype fabrication, integration, and test — including test plan development and execution for prototype validation, qualification, acceptance, and field trials
  • Participate in design-to-cost, weight optimisation, and modularity enhancement initiatives and apply DFMA principles across product development lifecycle
  • Explore design opportunities for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) to improve part consolidation, weight optimisation using topology optimisation tools
  • Conduct failure analysis and investigations on components and assemblies, and present findings, corrective actions, and design recommendations to customers and program stakeholders
  • Provide production support, including print/drawing reviews with suppliers, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Assurance Engineers and Procurement to drive design manufacturability, sourcing efficiency, and quality outcomes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • Entry level candidates are welcome to apply
  • Prior experience in mechanical design engineering especially in defence-related industry a plus
  • Proficient in CAD software (Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo, Catia etc)
  • Good understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, DFMA principles, kinematic assemblies, and manufacturing processes
  • Prior experience in FEA tools and software will be advantageous
  • Strong interest in mechanical design and a passion for hands-on engineering
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, good collaborative skills with cross-functional teams
  • Strong team player with a self-driven attitude and keen attention to detail
  • Curious, proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and take ownership
