We are seeking an experienced shipping professional to join our office as a Finance Manager / Assistant Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the company’s financial operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making through effective financial management and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting to ensure effective resource allocation and financial stability.
- Drive financial analysis, risk assessment, and performance monitoring to support strategic decision-making and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Oversee the full set of accounts, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), General Ledger (GL), reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards.
- Prepare and deliver timely, accurate financial and consolidated reports to management and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including corporate tax regulations, filings, and internal policies.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve financial policies, internal controls, and accounting systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Monitor cash flow, banking activities, and treasury functions to maintain optimal liquidity.
- Liaise with external auditors and manage audit processes to ensure smooth and timely completion.
- Support strategic initiatives such as mergers, acquisitions, and major contract negotiations.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor the finance team, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize financial performance.
- Drive continuous process improvements and undertake ad-hoc finance-related projects as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, with a professional accounting qualification (e.g., CIMA, ACCA).
- Minimum 8–10 years of relevant finance experience, preferably in the shipping or logistics industry, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Proven expertise in financial modelling, analysis, and reporting, with the ability to interpret complex data and market trends for strategic decision-making.
- Solid understanding of risk management and corporate governance practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
- Proficient in English (both written and spoken).
- Strong computer literacy, including MS Office and relevant financial or shipping systems.
- Highly organised with the ability to multitask, prioritise, and perform effectively under pressure.
- Proactive, solution-oriented, and customer-focused mindset.
Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM7,000.00 per month
