Key Responsibilities

• Pre-Welding Inspection: Review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and verify welders have valid certifications (WPQ). Check material grades, fit-up, joint preparation, and consumable storage (ovens/quivers) prior to welding.
• During-Welding Monitoring: Ensure correct welding processes (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW) are applied. Monitor critical parameters like preheat/interpass temperatures, current, and voltage.
• Post-Welding & NDT: Conduct visual inspections (VT) of welds for profile, size, and defects like cracks or porosity. Coordinate or witness Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) such as ultrasonic (UT) or magnetic particle (MT) testing.
• Documentation: Prepare Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) reports, track weld traceability, and compile quality dossiers for project handover.
• Defect Management: Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for defective welds and oversee corrective actions or repairs.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Certifications: AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or CSWIP certification is standard.
• Skills: Ability to read complex structural blueprints, use specialized welding gauges, and understand NDT reports.
