About the Role
CIMB is seeking a highly experienced Application Engineering Lead – Digital Wealth to lead the engineering, delivery, and operational excellence of our digital wealth technology platforms.
This role combines technical leadership, solution architecture, application ownership, and engineering management responsibilities. You will be responsible for driving end-to-end delivery of Digital Wealth applications while ensuring production stability, scalability, security, and performance across the technology landscape.
As a key technology leader, you will partner closely with Business, Product, Architecture, and Engineering teams to deliver innovative digital wealth solutions that support CIMB's strategic growth ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
Application Ownership & Technical Leadership
- Own end-to-end accountability for Digital Wealth applications and platforms.
- Serve as the primary Application Lead and technical authority for assigned systems.
- Lead engineering teams across multiple delivery initiatives.
- Drive accountability for both application delivery and production operations.
Solution Design & Architecture
- Collaborate with Business, Product, and Architecture stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Define system design, architecture, and implementation approaches.
- Ensure solutions are secure, compliant, resilient, and integrated effectively across enterprise systems.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance throughout the development lifecycle.
Engineering Delivery
- Lead application development across:
- Backend engineering
- Frontend engineering
- API and integration services
- Ensure adherence to SDLC standards, engineering best practices, and Agile methodologies.
- Drive high-quality delivery of new capabilities and enhancements.
DevSecOps, Release & Production Excellence
- Oversee CI/CD pipelines, release management, and deployment activities.
- Ensure smooth and reliable production releases.
- Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and remediation activities.
- Drive adoption of DevSecOps practices, automated testing, and secure coding standards.
- Continuously improve application stability, performance, and operational resilience.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the key technology interface between Business, Product, Architecture, and Engineering teams.
- Communicate delivery progress, risks, and solution decisions effectively to stakeholders.
- Build trusted relationships across technology and business functions.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams.
- Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Build strong capabilities in modern engineering and application ownership practices.
What We're Looking For
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Cloud certification (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is an added advantage.
Experience
- 12–15 years of experience in software engineering and application development.
- 5–8 years of experience leading technical teams and large-scale technology initiatives.
- Proven experience delivering enterprise applications within banking, financial services, fintech, or digital platforms.
- Strong track record in application ownership, solution delivery, and engineering leadership.
Technical Skills
- Modern application architecture and cloud-native development.
- Backend and frontend engineering.
- API design and system integration.
- CI/CD and DevSecOps practices.
- Production support, incident management, and operational excellence.
- Digital banking, wealth management, or financial technology platforms experience is highly desirable.
Leadership Skills
