Job Description

Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of precision automation equipment and customized engineering solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver equipment that meets performance, quality, manufacturability, and cost requirements, with a strong focus on the semiconductor and high-tech manufacturing industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop precision automation equipment, machinery, and tooling solutions based on project requirements.
  • Create, build, and evaluate prototypes to validate functionality, reliability, and performance.
  • Conduct engineering calculations and design analyses to optimize equipment performance and efficiency.
  • Perform Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and risk assessments to ensure robust and reliable designs.
  • Define equipment specifications and technical requirements.
  • Plan and execute equipment testing, validation, and buy-off activities.
  • Analyze test results and implement design improvements to meet safety, quality, performance, and reliability standards.
  • Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software (preferably SolidWorks).
  • Collaborate with Controls Engineers to optimize machine sequence flow and overall system performance.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure cost-effective production and assembly.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and assembly teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
  • Prepare equipment cost estimates, including material, labor, overhead, and delivery costs.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and coordination to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Participate in equipment assembly, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer acceptance activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in precision equipment design, automation machinery, or special-purpose machine development.
  • Experience in the semiconductor industry will be a strong advantage.
  • Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Strong understanding of: Mechanical design principles; Automation systems; DFMEA and risk assessment methodologies; Design for Manufacturing (DFM); Engineering calculations and tolerance analysis
  • Hands-on experience in equipment assembly, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience managing engineering projects from concept development through final implementation.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing equipment and automation processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
