Job Description

Responsibilities

The Genetic Engineering will be responsible for research, development, and implementation of genetic improvement programs for livestock and agricultural biotechnology projects.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct research in genetic engineering, molecular biology, and biotechnology.

Develop and implement breeding and genetic improvement programs for livestock and crops.

Perform DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing, genotyping, and molecular analysis.

Collaborate with research institutions and universities on biotechnology projects.

Analyze laboratory data and prepare technical reports.

Ensure compliance with biosafety, ethical, and regulatory requirements.

Supervise laboratory operations, equipment calibration, and quality control.

Evaluate new technologies in genetic engineering and biotechnology.

Train laboratory staff and research assistants.

Support commercialization of research findings and intellectual property development.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Genetic Engineering, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Animal Science, Agricultural Biotechnology, or a related field (Master's or PhD is an advantage).

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in biotechnology, molecular genetics, or genetic engineering research.

Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, gene sequencing, CRISPR (preferred), tissue culture, or genomic analysis.

Knowledge of livestock breeding, plant genetics, or aquaculture genetics is an advantage.

Familiarity with laboratory quality management systems and biosafety regulations.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and scientific writing skills.

Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and statistical or bioinformatics software.

Preferred Skills

Experience in livestock genetic improvement (goats, cattle, poultry, or aquaculture).

Knowledge of genome editing and marker-assisted selection.

Experience preparing research grants and scientific publications.

Ability to manage multiple research projects independently.

Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM10,000.00 per month
