Technical Principal – provides single-point accountability for technical decisions:

• Oversees design quality, standards, and approvals
• Leads resolution of complex engineering issues
• Ensures consistency across multiple projects and teams

This aligns with the core objective where principal engineers participates in technical delivery and provide oversight across multidisciplinary teams.

b) Enhancing Project Delivery and Commercial Performance

Technical principal involvement ensures;

• Project quality and timelines
• Cost control and reduced rework
• Successful tender submissions

This exercise ensures project profitability, delivery efficiency, and client satisfaction.

c) Providing Client and Stakeholder Confidence

As R&H Malaysia’s continuous business development activities is in progress locally, it is crucial for stake holders in Malaysia to understand the culture ,strength and capabilities of SMEC’s R&H sector. The Lead Principle will be able to understand both technical and deliverable requirements which adheres the local guidelines, codes & practices, and liaisons requirements.

A strong leadership in the sector comprising the Lead Manager, the Principle and an overall technical team of Engineers provide the Client with more confidence and entrusting the organization with potentially more opportunities for projects and wider scope of works. We expect a joint effort with the Technical Principal to approach Contractors and private sector. Further, it builds trust in delivering complex infrastructure projects.

Capability Building and Talent Development

A Lead Technical Principal will play a role in:

• Mentoring engineers and developing technical depth
• Building succession pipelines

Working closely with the Manager, the Lead Principal will play key role in development of junior engineers and other engineers in identifying training requirements and software developments to enhance their capability.
