Job Description

Responsibilities

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team and support the day-to-day operations of our entities in Malaysia and Singapore. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants broad exposure across accounting, payroll, tax, and finance operations — while working closely with the Financial Controller in a growing business.

If you enjoy owning the numbers end-to-end, solving problems, and want a role where your work directly shapes how the finance function scales, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

Management Reporting

  • Maintain accurate accounting records — invoices, payments, journals, payroll, and employee claims
  • Manage monthly payroll processing, statutory deductions, and timely submissions
  • Perform bank reconciliations and manage intercompany transactions, billing, and collections
  • Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Handle foreign currency revaluations and support variance analysis with commentary
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow monitoring alongside the Financial Controller
  • Ensure compliance with MFRS/IFRS and internal accounting policies

Compliance, Tax & Controls

  • Prepare and submit indirect tax returns (SST/GST, where applicable)
  • Liaise with external tax agents on corporate tax filings and compliance
  • Support year-end audits and prepare required documentation for auditors
  • Maintain proper records in line with internal control requirements

Operational Finance Support

  • Support AP, AR, payroll, employee expenses, and intercompany processes
  • Contribute to ERP/finance system improvements (NetSuite experience a plus)
  • Spot opportunities to improve processes and drive efficiency
  • Assist the Financial Controller on ad hoc projects and business initiatives

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a professional accounting qualification
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting or audit experience — we welcome candidates transitioning from audit firms into a commercial role
  • Solid grounding in month-end closing, reconciliations, and management reporting
  • Payroll and statutory compliance experience preferred
  • SST/GST reporting experience and comfort working with external tax agents preferred
  • Exposure to foreign currency transactions, project accounting, or revenue recognition is a bonus
  • ACCA, CPA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification is an advantage

Skills That Will Help You Succeed

  • Strong grasp of accounting principles and IFRS/MFRS
  • Confident with Microsoft Excel
  • Comfortable working in accounting/ERP systems (NetSuite a plus)
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving instincts
  • Accuracy and attention to detail, you can be proud of

You'll Thrive Here If You

  • Take ownership and follow through without needing to be chased
  • Stay organised and calm when juggling multiple deadlines
  • Communicate clearly and work well with people across teams
  • Bring a positive, "let's improve this" attitude to your work
  • Enjoy learning and growing your scope as the business grows
