Shipping Supervisor (Freight Forwarding)

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Shipping Supervisor to lead and oversee daily ocean and air freight forwarding operations. The successful candidate will supervise the operations team, ensure smooth coordination of import and export shipments, maintain service quality, and ensure compliance with carrier, customs, and customer requirements.

This role requires strong operational knowledge of international freight forwarding, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple shipments while meeting customer deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

* Supervise daily import and export freight forwarding operations.

* Coordinate shipment bookings with shipping lines, airlines, co-loaders, and overseas agents.

* Ensure timely preparation and accuracy of shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, House Bills, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, and customs-related documents.

* Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve operational issues, delays, rollovers, and documentation discrepancies.

* Liaise with customers, overseas offices, carriers, customs brokers, transport providers, and internal departments to ensure smooth shipment execution.

* Ensure compliance with customer SOPs, carrier requirements, customs regulations, and company procedures.

* Allocate daily tasks, supervise team performance, and provide coaching and operational guidance.

* Support customer inquiries, quotations, and operational escalations when required.

* Drive continuous process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, service quality, and customer satisfaction.

* Prepare operational reports and monitor team KPIs.

Requirements

* Minimum 5 years of experience in freight forwarding operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team leader role.

* Strong knowledge of ocean and/or air freight export and import operations.

* Good understanding of shipping documentation, Incoterms, customs procedures, and international trade.

* Experience dealing with shipping lines, airlines, co-loaders, overseas agents, and customs brokers.

* Hands-on experience with freight forwarding systems such as CargoWise or other logistics ERP systems.

* Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

* Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

* Experience handling USA, Europe, Australia, or Asia trade lanes.

* Knowledge of customs declarations, AMS, ISF, ENS, ACI, or other trade compliance requirements is an advantage.
