Role Description The IETS Technician (1-year contract) is a full-time, on-site role based in Butterworth. The technician is responsible for supporting the operation and maintenance of industrial effluent treatment systems (IETS), including routine inspections, equipment monitoring, and basic troubleshooting. Daily tasks may include sampling and testing water quality, recording and reporting operational data, and assisting in chemical handling under established safety procedures. The role also involves supporting senior technical staff during system adjustments, preventive maintenance activities, and compliance-related documentation. The IETS Technician works closely with the operations team to ensure systems run efficiently, safely, and in accordance with regulatory and company standards.

Qualifications

  • Relevant technical knowledge in water or wastewater treatment operations, including basic understanding of IETS processes and equipment.
  • Ability to perform routine system monitoring, data recording, sampling, and basic troubleshooting in an industrial environment.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, including safe chemical handling, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and other technicians on-site.
  • Minimum certificate or diploma in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Butterworth on a full-time schedule and adapt to rotating tasks or shifts as required by operations.
  • Previous experience in industrial water or wastewater treatment, plant operations, or IETS-related roles is an added advantage.
