Job Summary
The Assistant Funeral Director coordinates and manages all funeral arrangements with dignity, compassion, and professionalism. You will support families emotionally, liaise with vendors, and ensure compliance with regulations and cultural sensitivities from death notification to final rites.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for families, managing all funeral arrangements from initial death notification to completion of final rites
- Provide emotional support and guidance to families during funeral planning to help them make informed decisions on rites, services, cremation/burials, and memorials
- Coordinate logistics and manage multiple tasks under sensitive conditions and tight timelines to ensure smooth service delivery
- Liaise effectively with churches, parish offices, florists, and other contractors/vendors to facilitate funeral services
- Manage all administrative tasks including registration of death certificates, permits, and maintain accurate and organized records
- Ensure all services are conducted respectfully, professionally, and with cultural sensitivity
- Handle necessary documentation and maintain meticulous records for compliance and operational efficiency
- Respond to funeral cases outside normal working hours, including weekends and public holidays
Required competencies and certifications
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin to communicate effectively with diverse families and stakeholders
- Possess a valid Class 3 driving licence and own transport to travel for funeral arrangements and vendor coordination
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Diploma or degree in any discipline
- Prior experience in funeral services, bereavement care, or related fields
- Good knowledge of Singapore funeral practices, regulations, and religious traditions
- Ability to co-ordinate logistics and multi-tasks within sensitive conditions and tight timeline
- Unwavering commitment with strong dedication to tasks.
Other Information
EXPECTED SALARY: Approx $4000 to $5000 per month, commensurate with experience and skills.
