Responsibilities

Job Purpose

To oversee and manage the Group's IT operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud services and enterprise technology platforms. The IT Manager is responsible for ensuring the availability, security and performance of IT systems that support academic, administrative and business operations across the BAC Education Group. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities and the ability to drive digital transformation initiatives that align with the Group's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities & accountabilities

1. Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead, manage and mentor the IT team, fostering a high-performance and service-oriented culture.
  • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, training and professional development of IT personnel.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, establish development plans and provide regular coaching and feedback.
  • Allocate resources effectively to ensure timely delivery of operational support and project objectives.

2. IT Infrastructure Oversight:

  • Oversee the administration, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Group's IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networks, cloud platforms, hardware and software.
  • Ensure high availability, reliability and scalability of infrastructure to support academic and business operations.
  • Monitor system performance, capacity and uptime, implementing proactive improvements where necessary.
  • Maintain disaster recovery, backup and business continuity capabilities to minimise operational disruptions.
  • Manage enterprise Wi-Fi, VPN, network security and remote access services.

3. Strategic Planning and Budgeting:

  • Develop and execute IT strategies that support the Group's operational and strategic objectives.
  • Prepare, monitor and manage the annual IT budget, ensuring cost-effective utilisation of technology investments.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency and user experience.
  • Support technology planning for future growth, scalability and digital transformation initiatives.

4. Project Management:

  • Lead IT infrastructure, system implementation and digital transformation projects from planning through execution.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within approved scope, timeline, budget and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify technology solutions that improve productivity and business processes.
  • Coordinate testing, deployment, documentation and post-implementation support.

5. Vendor and Stakeholder Management:

  • Manage relationships with hardware, software, cloud and telecommunications vendors.
  • Negotiate contracts, licensing agreements and service level agreements to achieve optimal value for the organisation.
  • Monitor vendor performance and ensure contracted services meet agreed service standards.
  • Serve as the primary technology liaison between the IT Department, senior management and external technology partners.

6. Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

  • Oversee the provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support.
  • Resolve complex technical issues as they arise.

7. Cybersecurity and Risk Management

  • Develop, implement and maintain cybersecurity policies, standards and best practices across the Group.
  • Oversee endpoint protection, identity and access management, vulnerability assessments, patch management and security monitoring.
  • Coordinate incident response activities and ensure timely resolution of cybersecurity incidents.
  • Promote cybersecurity awareness through user education and training initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational security requirements and applicable data protection regulations.

8. Cloud and Digital Innovation

  • Support the administration and optimisation of cloud services, including Microsoft Azure, AWS and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Evaluate and implement modern technologies, automation tools and AI-enabled solutions that improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with academic and business units to support technology innovation initiatives aligned with the Group's digital transformation strategy.

Job Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT operations, with at least 2 years in a management role.
  • Good understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks, and cloud services.
  • Experience with systems security, data privacy, and IT policies.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Experience with managing budget.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
