Job Description

Responsibilities

1) Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Technical/R&D Manager to supervise and drive the R&D projects of AmylX.The R&D Manager will work closely with the CEO to lead and manage the R&D team to complete key tasks in material fabrication, scaling-up process engineering, as well as testing and characterization.The successful candidate will oversee project planning and execution, provide technical guidance to team members, and ensure that experimental data, reports and documentation are well organized for internal and external reporting purposes (e.g. investors, partners, regulatory bodies).This role is ideal for candidates with strong training in chemistry, materials science, or related disciplines, and with hands-on experience in process development and scale‑up who are interested in translating lab‑scale materials into real-world products.

2) Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise R&D projects on material fabrication and process development, from lab-scale proof‑of‑concept to pilot‑scale trials.
  • Work with the CEO to define R&D roadmap, project timelines and priorities, and ensure alignment with business and product needs.
  • Design and review experimental plans for synthesis, processing, and performance testing of functional materials.
  • Oversee scaling-up process engineering, including process optimization, troubleshooting, and collaboration with engineering/manufacturing partners where necessary.
  • Supervise and guide team members in testing and characterization, ensuring data quality, reproducibility and adherence to safety and laboratory standards.
  • Organize and manage experimental data, reports, and technical documentation for internal reviews, external collaborators, and reporting purposes.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations, project updates and documentation for management, partners or funding bodies.
  • Participate in and lead scientific discussions and project meetings; provide technical input on materials selection, process choices and risk assessment.
  • Support technology transfer and commercialization activities as the projects move towards pilot or production stages.

3) Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Solid hands-on experience in materials synthesis / fabrication and process development (e.g. scaling up from lab to pilot scale).
  • Familiarity with common materials characterization techniques (e.g. thermal analysis, mechanical testing, spectroscopy, microscopy, etc.).
  • Proven experience in project management or team supervision in an R&D setting (academic or industrial).
  • Good experimental record‑keeping and documentation skills, with attention to detail and data integrity.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and work under time constraints.

4) Preferred Qualifications

  • 3–5 years or above of relevant experience in materials R&D, process engineering, or scale‑up development in industry or applied research organisations.
  • Experience in plant‑based materials, sustainable materials, or functional materials is a strong plus.
  • Interest or experience in technology commercialization and working with industry partners or customers.
  • Familiarity with interdisciplinary collaboration across chemistry, materials science and engineering.
  • Experience in writing technical reports, proposals, or patent-related documentation.

5) Working Arrangement

  • 5 working days per week.
  • Work location: Hong Kong Science Park

6) Compensation

  • Monthly salary: HKD 20,000 or above, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • 14 days of annual leave, plus birthday leave.
