Job Description

Responsibilities

Company Description Kumnara Holding Sdn Bhd is the project owner of the Sungai Channing Gold Mining Project, its first major venture in Malaysia’s mineral sector. The company operates under Mining Lease ML 16/2022, covering 200 hectares in Ulu Nenggiri, Gua Musang, Kelantan, within the Central Gold Belt, Malaysia’s most prolific gold-bearing corridor. The current lease runs from December 22, 2022 to December 21, 2026, with renewal planned through 2030, offering multi-year project continuity. Although Kumnara is a new player in mining, the project is supported by independent geological validations confirming favorable lithology, structure, and quartz-vein-hosted mineralization with commercial recovery potential. This provides mining professionals with an opportunity to contribute to a growing, technically validated gold operation.

Role Description The Mining Engineer will work full time on-site in Ulu Nenggiri, Gua Musang Kelantan as required. Responsibilities include developing and optimizing mine plans, designing pit and layouts, and preparing production schedules aligned with resource models and safety standards. The role involves conducting technical and economic analyses, supporting feasibility and operational studies, and collaborating with geologists and survey teams to refine reserves and extraction strategies. The Mining Engineer will monitor mine performance, recommend improvements to equipment utilization and methods, and ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements. Additional tasks include preparing technical reports, contributing to budgeting and cost control, and supporting the implementation of new technologies and best practices in mine operations.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Mine Planning skills and experience in designing and optimizing mining operations.
  • Candidates should possess solid Mining Engineering knowledge, including understanding of mining methods, geotechnical considerations, and operational workflows.
  • Candidates should possess robust Analytical Skills for evaluating resource data, production metrics, and economic viability.
  • Candidates should possess familiarity with Coal and Coal Mining or other relevant commodity experience; gold mining exposure is an advantage.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mining Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Knowledge of mine design and planning software (e.g., Surpac, Datamine, MineSched, or similar) and proficiency with MS Office tools.
  • Strong understanding of occupational safety, health, and environmental regulations in mining operations.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, communicate clearly in written and spoken English, and adapt to field and site conditions.
  • Prior experience in open-pit or underground hard rock mining is preferred; early-career engineers with relevant internships or site exposure are encouraged to apply.
