Location: Penang or KL (with travel to China approximately once a month)
Job Summary:
We are looking for a hands-on Technical Software Manager to lead and supervise our software development team in China.
The person will work closely with the Malaysia team to define project requirements, review technical work, track delivery and ensure the completed components can be integrated successfully.
This is not only a people-management role. The candidate should be strong in software development, comfortable reviewing code and able to guide the team when technical issues arise.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the China software team.
- Translate requirements from the Malaysia team into clear technical tasks.
- Review software design, code, testing and documentation.
- Guide the team in solving technical and integration issues.
- Track project schedule, quality and delivery risks.
- Coordinate project interfaces and deliverables between the China and Malaysia teams.
- Support customer demos and technical proof-of-concept projects.
- Travel to China approximately once a month.
Projects may include:
- RISC-V software development.
- FreeRTOS or Zephyr enablement.
- SoC-related software applications.
- Embedded software and FPGA soft IP applications.
- Waveform viewer or netlist viewer or simulator development.
- FPGA software tool components.
- Customer demonstration applications involving FPGA, SoC and embedded systems.
Requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
- At least 8 years of software development experience.
- Experience leading engineers or technical projects.
- Strong programming skills in C and C++.
- Working knowledge of Python or scripting languages.
- Experience with Linux software development.
- Good understanding of software architecture, debugging, testing and code review.
- Experience working with teams across different locations.
- Good command of English.
- Able to speak, read and write Mandarin effectively for technical discussions, documentation and communication with the China team.
- Willing to travel to China approximately once a month.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in FPGA, semiconductor, EDA or embedded-system companies.
- Knowledge of RISC-V, FreeRTOS, Zephyr or embedded Linux.
- Experience with FPGA or SoC platforms.
- Experience with Qt, graphical tools or engineering visualisation software.
- Familiarity with waveform, netlist or digital-design workflows.
- Experience supporting customer demonstrations or reference applications.
