Role Description The Assistant Engineer (Manufacturing) role is a full-time, on-site position based in Kedah, Malaysia. The role involves supporting manufacturing engineering activities, including assisting in process setup and optimization, coordinating production trials, and ensuring that machinery and equipment operate according to specifications and safety standards. Responsibilities include preparing and updating process documentation, monitoring production performance, troubleshooting basic equipment or process issues, and collaborating with senior engineers, technicians, and production teams to improve efficiency and product quality. The Assistant Engineer will also help implement continuous improvement initiatives, support new product introduction, maintain accurate records of manufacturing parameters, and contribute to adherence to quality, cost, and delivery targets.
Qualifications
- Technical foundation in manufacturing or mechanical engineering, preferably with experience in machinery, equipment, or industrial automation environments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, process documentation, and basic CNC or fabrication specifications.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal fabrication, stamping, and assembly operations.
- Familiarity with quality control practices, basic root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., 5S, Kaizen) is an advantage.
- Proficiency in using standard office and engineering software (e.g., MS Office; exposure to CAD/CAM or ERP systems is beneficial).
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams on the production floor.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English; ability to communicate in Bahasa Malaysia is an added advantage.
- Diploma or degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
