About The Role

We are partnering with a well-established, consumer-facing business to appoint a Head of HR who will lead the people agenda across a nationwide retail network in Malaysia.

This is a hands-on leadership role in an operations-led environment. You will ensure the business has the right workforce, structure and HR processes in place to support performance and growth across both stores and head office functions.

Summary of the role and key responsibilities

Reporting into senior leadership, you will have end-to-end responsibility for HR in Malaysia and work closely with operations to drive consistency, efficiency and engagement across all locations.

Key areas of focus include:

• Leading HR for a nationwide retail workforce, covering store operations and head office.
• Driving high-volume hiring to support store performance, new openings and attrition backfill.
• Overseeing day-to-day HR operations, including the full employee lifecycle, payroll coordination and statutory compliance.
• Acting as a key partner to operations leaders on workforce planning, performance, retention and productivity.
• Managing employee relations and ensuring issues are addressed promptly and consistently across multiple sites.
• Embedding clear HR processes, policies and governance standards across the retail network.
• Leading and developing the HR team to deliver strong, consistent execution on the ground.
• Supporting initiatives linked to culture, performance management and capability building.

Key skills required

We are looking for a hands-on HR leader with experience in retail or similarly operational, high-volume environments in Malaysia.

You will bring:

• Proven experience leading HR in a retail, F&B, hospitality or other frontline-heavy business in Malaysia.
• A strong track record in high-volume recruitment and workforce management.
• Deep understanding of Malaysian labour laws, compliance and employee relations.
• Experience managing distributed workforces across multiple locations.
• An operational mindset with the ability to balance day-to-day execution with longer-term HR strategy.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, especially with operations and field leadership.
• Experience building and leading HR teams in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments.
