About the Role

Guide Dogs Singapore (GDS) is seeking a Social Worker, Case Manager to support and grow our Vision Rehabilitation Programme (VRP).

This is not a typical social work role.

You will be part of a vision rehabilitation team for shaping a specialised social work function in vision impairment, working at the intersection of clinical practice, rehabilitation, and multidisciplinary care. The role requires both deep casework expertise and the ability to guide / work with a team of social workers and trainers in delivering integrated, person-centred rehabilitation.

You will play a critical role in supporting persons with visual impairment (PVI) and their caregivers as they navigate adjustment, identity, independence, and community reintegration.

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Leadership & Casework

  • Lead psychosocial assessments using bio-psycho-social frameworks, including intake, triage, and risk assessment
  • Provide ongoing case management and counselling for clients and caregivers adjusting to vision loss
  • Support complex cases involving grief, identity reconstruction, and functional independence
  • Guide case planning and intervention strategies across the client journey

2. Vision Rehabilitation & Multidisciplinary Integration

  • Work closely with Orientation & Mobility Specialists, Assistive Technology Trainers, and Guide Dog Mobility Instructors
  • Lead multidisciplinary case discussions and care planning to ensure integrated rehabilitation outcomes
  • Strengthen collaboration across professional disciplines within VRP

3. Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Provide clinical supervision to interns, and support staff
  • Build team capability in vision rehabilitation social work practice
  • Guide support staff in handling complex psychosocial cases and group facilitation

4. Programme Development & Group Work

  • Lead and/or oversee therapeutic groupwork (e.g., psychoeducational and support groups for People with VI)
  • Design and refine programmes that support emotional adjustment and independence

5. Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships

  • Maintain and grow relationships with hospitals, social service agencies, and referral partners
  • Represent GDS in external collaborations and sector engagements
  • Strengthen referral pathways for persons with visual impairment

6. Outcomes, Reporting & Organisational Contribution

  • Oversee outcome measurement and funder reporting for VRP
  • Ensure accurate tracking of client progress and programme impact
  • Support organisational planning, reporting, and strategic initiatives

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree/Postgraduate qualification in Social Work (recognised by relevant accreditation bodies)
  • Minimum 2 years of social work experience, with strong grounding in casework and counselling
  • Strong ability to work independently and lead initiatives
  • Comfortable working in an evolving environment where systems are still being developed

Candidates with the following experience will be highly preferred:

  • Experience in disability, healthcare, or rehabilitation settings
  • Demonstrated understanding of psychosocial impact of disability
  • Experience working with sensory disabilities (vision impairment preferred)
  • Ability to navigate complex multidisciplinary environments
