Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Partner in a range of advisory, transactional and contentious employment work as well as some industrial relations work, including but not limited to:
  • review and revise standard employment documentation, handbooks, etc
  • assist in matters such as employment due diligence on transactions
  • review materials relevant to Data Subject Access Requests
  • provides support on appropriate contentious employment matters (for example, disclosure, document handling, etc.)
  • respond to client queries on day-to-day HR-related issues (eg assisting in grievances, disciplinary actions)
  • carry out specific research tasks, cross-border project matter management
  • represent clients in litigation
  • co-ordinate billing and assist in preparing (and where appropriate, deliver) client training
  • Develop, manage, and build strong relationships with clients through anticipating client needs and expectations; and provide prompt responses and updates on progress.
  • Comply with risk requirements, Firm policies and all relevant professional responsibilities and legislation and contribute to billing, engagement, and client acceptance processes.
  • Liaising with teams elsewhere in the Firm (e.g. Paris employment team) as required on fee-earning or other projects.
  • Establish effective relationships with both individuals and groups across the global network; uphold the firm’s values; participate in Firm's events and CSR initiatives; support and attend marketing/industry events; and assist with training and preparation of legal precedents.


Skills, experience and qualifications

  • At least 2 years' PQE Singapore qualified lawyer but we are open to considering candidates with more or less experience.
  • Good knowledge of employment law as an area and relevant industry sector(s).
  • Possess initiative and resourcefulness.
  • Strong legal skills, including drafting, negotiation and project management skills; foundation level people management and business development skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to summarise complex issues succinctly, verbally and in writing.
  • Strong IT literacy, including an aptitude for learning (and becoming proficient in) the use of software and IT applications, for example using software tools intelligently to navigate large databases/document management systems.
  • Fluency in an ASEAN language is a plus.
