About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to support customer development and market expansion within the contract manufacturing and equipment integration sector.

This position focuses on identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic customer accounts, and introducing customized manufacturing and equipment solutions to local and international customers.

You will work closely with engineering, project, and manufacturing teams to understand technical requirements and develop suitable solutions involving equipment integration, mechanical assemblies, customized machinery, and OEM manufacturing.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in technical business development, customer account development, or engineering solutions within a manufacturing environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Account Growth

  • Identify and develop potential business opportunities within assigned markets and industry segments.
  • Establish professional relationships with prospective and existing business customers.
  • Develop account and territory plans to support sustainable business growth.
  • Research potential customers, industries, and market segments relevant to the company's manufacturing capabilities.
  • Manage business opportunities from initial customer engagement through technical discussion, quotation, commercial negotiation, and project handover.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers throughout the business development process.
  • Develop long-term customer relationships and identify opportunities to expand existing accounts.
  • Coordinate customer requirements with relevant internal departments.
  • Support annual business objectives, revenue planning, and account development initiatives.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Understand customers' technical, operational, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Conduct customer meetings, site visits, presentations, and business discussions.
  • Engage with relevant customer stakeholders and key decision-makers.
  • Maintain professional relationships with local and international customer accounts.
  • Provide timely updates and follow-up on customer enquiries and project opportunities.
  • Coordinate with distributors or business partners when required.
  • Gather customer feedback and work with internal teams to improve the overall customer experience.
  • Identify additional opportunities based on evolving customer requirements.

Engineering & Manufacturing Solutions

  • Develop a good understanding of the company's manufacturing and equipment integration capabilities.
  • Review customer specifications and communicate technical requirements to internal engineering teams.
  • Work closely with engineering and manufacturing departments to evaluate project feasibility.
  • Support discussions involving customized equipment, mechanical assemblies, and manufacturing solutions.
  • Ensure proposed solutions are aligned with available manufacturing capabilities and production capacity.
  • Communicate technical concepts and solution capabilities clearly to customers.
  • Support quotation and proposal development based on project requirements.
  • Participate in technical and commercial discussions throughout the customer engagement process.

Business Planning & Reporting

  • Prepare annual business forecasts, account plans, and territory development strategies.
  • Monitor business performance and customer account progress.
  • Maintain accurate customer and opportunity information using Salesforce or other CRM platforms.
  • Track business activities, customer discussions, and project opportunities.
  • Prepare regular business reports and management updates.
  • Review market developments and identify potential growth areas.
  • Collaborate with management on business planning and strategic customer initiatives.

Market Development

  • Monitor market trends, industry developments, and competitor activities.
  • Identify emerging industries and potential applications for manufacturing capabilities.
  • Evaluate new customer segments and geographical market opportunities.
  • Support relevant marketing and customer engagement initiatives.
  • Develop professional networks within the manufacturing and engineering industry.
  • Provide market feedback to internal stakeholders.
  • Recommend improvements to business development processes and customer engagement strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in technical business development, technical account management, engineering solutions, or a related customer-facing role.
  • Relevant industry experience in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred:
  • Contract Manufacturing
  • Equipment Integration
  • OEM Machine Building
  • Industrial Automation
  • Manufacturing Equipment
  • Customized Engineering Solutions
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing or equipment integration environments.
  • Experience developing new business accounts and managing customer opportunities.
  • Able to understand customer specifications and coordinate with technical teams.
  • Experience working with global or multinational customers is an advantage.
  • Good understanding of assembly-level manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with relevant manufacturing processes such as:
  • CNC Machining
  • Sheet Metal Fabrication
  • Mechanical Assembly
  • Precision or Turned Components
  • Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Experience using Salesforce or other CRM platforms is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Good customer relationship and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple business opportunities.
  • Able to work independently and collaborate effectively with engineering and manufacturing teams.
