We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Lead to lead the development of innovative products from concept through production. You will provide technical leadership while working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality mechanical designs that meet performance, reliability, and cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical product development from concept, design, prototyping, testing, validation, and production.
- Design precision mechanical systems including enclosures, sheet metal parts, mechanisms, thermal management, automation, optical, or fluidic components.
- Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to engineering team members.
- Perform engineering analysis such as tolerance stack-up, structural calculations, component sizing, and simulations (FEA/CFD where applicable).
- Plan and execute verification, validation, and reliability testing.
- Investigate product or manufacturing issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Reliability (DFR), and Design for Cost (DFC) principles.
- Collaborate with Project Management, Hardware, Software, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, drawings, specifications, reports, and engineering change records.
- Drive continuous improvement by adopting new engineering tools, technologies, and AI-assisted engineering workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical product development within an R&D environment.
- Experience leading complex product development projects.
- Proficient in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Precision mechanical design
- GD&T
- Tolerance analysis
- Material selection
- Manufacturing processes
- Experience in one or more of the following is an advantage:
- Precision mechanisms
- Automation systems
- Optical systems
- Fluidics
- Sheet metal/chassis design
- Thermal management
- Knowledge of engineering simulations (FEA/CFD) is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Self-motivated and able to mentor junior engineers.
- Experience using AI tools to improve engineering productivity is an added advantage.
Salary up to RM 15.000
Pay: RM15,000.00 - RM16,000.00 per month
