Role Summary

The Lead Piping Engineer is responsible for leading the piping engineering function throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptual design and FEED to detailed engineering, construction support, and project commissioning. This role ensures the delivery of safe, cost-effective, and compliant piping solutions while coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, and project stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage piping engineering activities for assigned projects.
  • Develop and review piping layouts, material specifications, equipment arrangements, and piping design deliverables.
  • Oversee piping stress analysis, material selection, valve specifications, and support design.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes, standards, client specifications, and project requirements.
  • Review and approve engineering documents including P&IDs, piping plans, isometrics, MTOs, datasheets, and technical reports.
  • Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Project Management teams.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and supervision to piping engineers and designers.
  • Support HAZOP, design reviews, constructability reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Interface with clients, vendors, contractors, and third-party consultants on technical matters.
  • Assist procurement activities through technical bid evaluations and vendor document reviews.
  • Support construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities as required.
  • Ensure project deliverables are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.


Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification is an advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Piping Engineering.
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams on Oil & Gas projects
  • Experience in FEED, EPC, and detailed engineering projects.
