Job Summary:
The Performance Design & Sustainability Analyst will support ADAS IDEAS in developing performance-led, climate-responsive and buildable design solutions for lightweight architecture, tensile membrane structures, ETFE systems, fabric facades, skylights, canopies, covered walkways and semi-outdoor public environments.
The role will combine environmental simulation, computational design, sustainability analysis, facade-performance studies, planning support and technical visualization. The objective is to help ADAS test design options early, improve user comfort, reduce material and energy demand, strengthen value-engineering proposals and communicate the technical benefit of ADAS lightweight systems to clients, architects and consultants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out solar radiation, shading, daylight, glare and lux-level studies for tropical and semi-outdoor environments, including covered walkways, atria, event spaces, stadium edges, public shelters and linkways.
- Assist in thermal comfort assessment for tropical and semi-outdoor environments, including covered walkways, atria, event spaces, stadium edges, public shelters and linkways.
- Prepare CFD-based studies for natural ventilation, wind comfort, airflow paths, heat build-up, stack effect and solar-induced ventilation strategies.
- Assess pedestrian-level wind performance and building porosity where ADAS proposals affect public spaces, covered routes or urban wind movement.
- Support wind-driven rain, rain protection and shelter-effectiveness studies to evaluate user comfort and the behavior of rain interacting with roof or facade geometry.
- Compare design options and clearly explain the impact of geometry, orientation, opening ratio, facade porosity, material transparency and roof profile on environmental performance.
- 3D Modeling & Design – Develop detailed, accurate 3D models using Rhino 3D for architecture steel, ETFE and PTFE.
- Shop Drawings & Fabrication Drawings – Prepare precise shop drawings, fabrication detailing, and technical documentation for construction.
- Proposal & Client Presentation Preparation – Develop presentations, including 3D visualizations, diagrams, exploded views, renderings, to communicate design concepts to clients.
- Scripting & Automation – Write custom scripts in Python or C# for Grasshopper/Rhino to automate modeling, streamline workflows, and enhance parametric capabilities.
- Parametric & Computational Design – Utilize Grasshopper for advanced parametric design and algorithmic modeling solutions.
- Shop Drawings & Fabrication Drawings – Prepare precise shop drawings, fabrication detailing, and technical documentation for construction, CNC machining, laser cutting, and 3D printing.
- Rendering & Visualization – Create visualizations using D5 render to communicate design intent.
- Digital Fabrication Integration – Optimize models CNC milling, robotic fabrication, and modular manufacturing.
- Design Optimization – Automate and enhance workflows to improve efficiency, material utilization, and production feasibility.
- Collaboration – Work closely with architects, engineers, fabricators, and clients to develop functional, manufacturable designs.
- Technical Documentation & File Management – Maintain structured libraries of 3D models, scripts, shop drawings, and BOMs (Bill of Materials).
