Responsibilities

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Plant Manager to oversee the daily operations of our metal fabrication manufacturing plant in Malaysia.

The Plant Manager will be responsible for managing production, maintenance, engineering, quality, safety, logistics, manpower, and cost control. The successful candidate will ensure that production targets, quality standards, delivery schedules, and safety requirements are consistently achieved.

This position requires a hands-on leader with strong experience in metal fabrication processes and manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Operations

  • Manage daily plant operations, including cutting, welding, machining, assembly, painting, coating, and final inspection.
  • Ensure production plans are completed according to delivery schedules, quality standards, and cost targets.
  • Monitor production output, machine utilization, manpower allocation, and operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with engineering and planning teams to resolve production and technical issues.
  • Ensure equipment and machinery are properly maintained to minimize downtime.

Quality and Process Control

  • Ensure all fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly processes meet required quality standards.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, ASME, AWS, and other relevant manufacturing standards.
  • Review inspection reports, process documents, non-conformance reports, and corrective actions.
  • Promote a strong quality culture and reduce defects, rework, and customer complaints.

Safety, Health and Environment

  • Ensure plant operations comply with Malaysian DOSH, DOE, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Promote a safe working environment and ensure employees follow safety procedures.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure proper management of waste, scrap materials, emissions, and environmental matters.

Cost and Resource Management

  • Prepare and manage the plant’s annual operating budget and capital expenditure plans.
  • Control production costs, material usage, energy consumption, overtime, and manpower expenses.
  • Improve material yield and reduce production waste.
  • Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades, automation, and productivity improvements.

People Management

  • Lead and manage supervisors, engineers, technicians, operators, and production employees.
  • Set clear performance targets and monitor employee productivity.
  • Develop training plans and skill matrices for welding, machining, fabrication, and assembly teams.
  • Promote teamwork, discipline, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.

Continuous Improvement

  • Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and waste-reduction initiatives.
  • Improve overall equipment effectiveness, productivity, quality, and production flow.
  • Develop data-driven performance reports and operational tracking systems.
  • Lead improvement projects to reduce downtime, defects, costs, and production delays.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work closely with Sales, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and other departments.
  • Support new product introduction, process validation, and custom fabrication projects.
  • Provide recommendations for production capacity planning and plant expansion.
  • Ensure plant operations support overall business objectives and customer requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in manufacturing or metal fabrication operations.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a plant management, production management, or senior operations leadership role.
  • Strong experience in metal fabrication processes such as cutting, welding, machining, assembly, painting, and coating.
  • Good knowledge of production planning, manpower management, equipment utilization, and cost control.
  • Experience managing plant budgets, capital expenditure, and operational improvement projects.
  • Familiar with ISO 9001, ASME, AWS, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Good understanding of Malaysian labour laws, DOSH regulations, DOE requirements, and workplace safety standards.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on, proactive, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Pay: RM11,000.00 - RM13,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Kulai: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
