Work Arrangement:
EMEA Hours 08:00 – 17:00 (UTC +01:00) or Malaysian Hours from 3:00PM - 12:00AM.
You may need to support on-call and out of hours support.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the daily operation, monitoring, and administration of enterprise backup and recovery systems.
- Execute and maintain backup policies, schedules, retention rules, and restore procedures according to internal standards.
- Perform and assist with restore activities for systems and applications, including participation in disaster recovery tests.
- Monitor backup jobs, identify errors, and support incident resolution in coordination with senior team members.
- Assist in performance and capacity checks of backup environments and contribute to optimization measures.
- Support upgrades, migrations, and implementation of new backup solutions under guidance from senior staff and architects.
- Maintain and update operational documentation, runbooks, and procedures related to backup and recovery.
- Work closely with internal customers and application owners to understand and support their backup and restore requirements.
- Provide out-of-hours and on-call support in exceptional cases, in coordination with the senior team.
Skills and Qualifications
- Solid experience in enterprise data backup and recovery administration (minimum 5 years of professional experience).
- Good understanding of agent-based backup concepts (e.g., Exchange, MS SQL, Oracle) and snapshot-based backup and restore.
- Good knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Knowledge of Rubrik and Versity/ScoutAM is an advantage; experience with other enterprise backup tools is beneficial.
- Basic knowledge of Bare Metal Restore (BMR) concepts is a plus.
- Experience in IT operations with responsibility for systems and/or operational processes.
- Familiarity with ITIL-based IT service management processes (incident, problem, change, request) is an advantage.
- Good analytical and troubleshooting skills in backup and restore environments.
- Advanced English communication skills, spoken and written; German is an advantage.
Programming & Automation Skills
- Basic programming skills in Python.
- Basic experience with Ansible for automation and configuration management.
- Knowledge of the Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) is a plus.
