Role Description The Banquet Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role based at Penang Marriott Hotel in Georgetown. This role oversees the daily operations of banquet events, ensuring that function rooms and the ballroom are set up according to event specifications and Marriott brand standards. The Banquet Supervisor coordinates with the kitchen, service, and event teams to deliver timely, high-quality food and beverage service and a seamless guest experience. Responsibilities include supervising banquet staff, conducting pre-event briefings, managing event timelines, and monitoring service quality and guest satisfaction throughout each function. The role also involves handling guest requests, resolving issues during events, ensuring compliance with health and safety guidelines, and supporting inventory control and post-event breakdown. The Banquet Supervisor contributes to continuous improvement of banquet procedures and supports training and development of team members.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong supervisory skills, including team leadership, shift coordination, and performance oversight.
  • Candidates should possess food service experience, with knowledge of banquet operations, catering standards, and basic food and beverage handling.
  • Candidates should possess customer service and customer satisfaction skills, with the ability to anticipate guest needs and respond professionally to feedback and issues.
  • Candidates should possess effective communication skills, including clear verbal communication, active listening, and coordination with multiple departments.
  • Relevant experience in hotel banquets, events, or F&B operations, preferably in an upscale or international hotel environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, based on event schedules.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple events and priorities simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of basic safety, hygiene, and hospitality standards; formal hospitality or F&B training or certification is an advantage.
