Job Summary

Responsible for planning material requirements, monitoring inventory levels, and coordinating with production, procurement, warehouse, and other departments to ensure timely material availability and uninterrupted production operations.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Review sales forecasts, confirmed customer orders, production schedules, and Bill of Materials (BOM) to determine material requirements.
• Prepare, update, and maintain material requirement plans according to production demand and planning priorities.
• Identify potential material shortages and coordinate timely replenishment with the procurement team.
• Monitor daily inventory movements, material consumption, minimum stock, and safety stock levels.
• Identify slow-moving, excess, inactive, or obsolete materials and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Coordinate with production planners and warehouse personnel to ensure materials are picked, staged, and issued according to production priorities.
• Follow up on missing, delayed, insufficient, non-conforming, or returned materials to prevent production downtime.
• Maintain accurate planning records, material lists, tracking logs, and inventory documentation.
• Verify item descriptions, part numbers, quantities, and inventory records to minimize planning and issuance errors.
• Prepare regular reports on inventory status, material shortages, planning risks, and recovery actions.
• Analyse planning performance and recommend improvements to material flow, data accuracy, and supply chain processes.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• A recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in material planning, inventory control, production planning, manufacturing, or warehouse operations.
• Knowledge of Bill of Materials (BOM), production scheduling, inventory control, and procurement coordination.
• Experience using ERP, MRP, or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar system will be an added advantage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and decision-making skills.
• Detail-oriented with good organizational and record-keeping abilities.
• Able to prioritize tasks and work effectively within tight deadlines.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional coordination.
• Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Mandarin proficiency is an added advantage.
• High level of integrity, responsibility, and accuracy when handling material and inventory information.
