Job Description

Responsibilities

Job Description & Requirements: Research Assistant/Associate

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing robotic platforms to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Implementing and researching into design specifications, materials, durability, and physical constraints required for locomotion and overall functionality.
  • Having a strong understanding of the robot’s mechanical system to optimize functional design and performance.
  • Applying knowledge of manufacturing processes, DFM/DFA principles, and production constraints to ensure manufacturable designs.
  • Designing mounts, enclosures, and integration structures for onboard sensors and other critical components.
  • Performing simulation and analysis using tools such as Ansys and MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Working with mechanical components and prototyping methods, including 3D printing, CNC machining, sheet metal design, and common shop tools.
  • Collaborating effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and with third-party vendors.
  • Communicating ideas and designs clearly.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical/Computer/Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in designing and performing mechanical tests.
  • Experience with electromechanical system design is preferred.
  • Experience with ROS and programming in Python and C++ is a strong plus.
