As part of its long-term leadership succession strategy, our client is seeking an outstanding Senior Manager – Production to take on a pivotal leadership role with a clearly defined pathway to succeed the Production Director.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Production Director, you will lead a large-scale manufacturing operation of approximately 900 employees, providing strategic and operational leadership across production, safety, quality, delivery, cost and productivity.

Beyond operational performance, you will play a critical role in building leadership capability, coaching managers and supervisors, strengthening organisational capability and driving a high-performance culture across the plant.

Key Leadership Responsibilities

Strategic Manufacturing Leadership

• Lead a complex, high-volume manufacturing operation.
• Drive operational excellence across safety, quality, productivity and customer delivery.
• Lead plant-wide manufacturing performance through data-driven decision-making.
• Improve operational efficiency, manufacturing costs and overall plant performance.

People Leadership

• Lead, inspire and develop a manufacturing organisation of approximately 900 employees.
• Coach, mentor and develop managers, supervisors and future manufacturing leaders.
• Build succession pipelines and strengthen leadership capability.
• Foster a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement.

Performance Management

• Lead workforce performance management initiatives.
• Coach managers on employee development and difficult workforce situations.
• Manage Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) professionally and effectively.
• Develop a high-performing, engaged manufacturing workforce.

Continuous Improvement

• Champion Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement across the plant.
• Lead operational recovery initiatives and manufacturing transformation programmes.
• Drive productivity improvements through structured problem-solving and root cause analysis.

We're Looking For a Leader With Proven Experience In

The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on operational leadership from a large-scale manufacturing environment, including practical experience in:

• Lean Manufacturing implementation
• High-volume manufacturing operations
• Packaging assembly line operations
• Finished product packaging
• Plastic sealing and packaging manufacturing processes
• Continuous Driven Manufacturing (CDD)
• Operational troubleshooting and process improvement
• GMP, ISO and highly regulated manufacturing environments
• Workforce leadership, coaching and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs)
• Production planning, manpower optimisation and production governance
• ERP systems such as SAP, AS400 or equivalent manufacturing platforms

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a manufacturing leader who has:

• Successfully led a manufacturing plant or production organisation with approximately 300 employees or more.
• Extensive experience within large-scale manufacturing operations.
• A proven track record of delivering operational excellence through hands-on leadership.
• Strong expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement.
• Demonstrated success in operational recovery, productivity improvement and manufacturing transformation.
• Strong coaching, mentoring and succession planning capability.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills.
• A passion for developing people while delivering world-class manufacturing performance.
