About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Interior Designer who can do more than produce attractive visuals.

You should be able to understand a client’s needs, develop a strong design direction, explain the thinking behind your ideas and confidently present them to the client.

You will take ownership of projects from the initial brief through design development, client approval and project coordination. You will also guide junior designers and work closely with the project and site teams to ensure the approved design can be executed properly.

This role involves regular client meetings, presentations and site discussions.

Responsibilities

• Meet clients to understand their needs, lifestyle, business requirements, budget and design preferences
• Develop original interior design concepts and overall design directions
• Prepare space planning, mood boards, material selections and design presentations
• Present and pitch design proposals confidently to clients
• Explain design decisions clearly and respond professionally to client feedback
• Lead projects from initial concept through detailed design and implementation
• Ensure designs are practical, buildable and appropriate for the project budget
• Review layout plans, technical drawings, detailed drawings and 3D visuals
• Guide and review the work of junior designers
• Coordinate with sales, project, site, contractor and supplier teams
• Attend site visits, client meetings and internal project discussions
• Resolve design, material and site-related issues
• Keep projects moving according to agreed timelines
• Maintain the company’s design quality and presentation standards

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or a related field
• At least 5 years of relevant interior design experience
• Strong design thinking and space-planning ability
• Able to independently develop and defend a design concept
• Strong communication and client-presentation skills
• Comfortable meeting and presenting to clients regularly
• Experience handling residential, commercial or design-and-build projects
• Strong understanding of materials, detailing and construction methods
• Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp and relevant design software
• Knowledge of 3ds Max, Revit, Enscape, V-Ray or similar software is an advantage
• Able to review technical and detailed drawings
• Responsible, organised and able to manage several project priorities
• Able to guide junior team members
• Good command of English
• Ability to communicate in Mandarin, Cantonese or Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage
