Company Description Pengerang Terminals Sdn Bhd is a joint venture between Dialog Group Berhad, a Malaysian integrated technical services provider in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industry, and Royal Vopak, the world’s largest independent tank storage provider headquartered in the Netherlands. The terminal offers storage, blending, and distribution services for crude and clean petroleum products with a total capacity of 1.76 million cubic meters. It operates six berths that can accommodate vessels of various sizes, including very large crude carriers (VLCCs). The facility plays a key role in regional energy logistics, providing reliable, safe, and efficient terminal operations for international customers.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Technician role based at Pengerang Terminals in Johore, Malaysia. The Technician is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining terminal equipment and systems, including pumps, valves, pipelines, tanks, and loading arms. Day-to-day tasks include performing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting to ensure safe and efficient storage, blending, and product transfer operations. The role involves supporting loading and unloading activities, following standard operating procedures, and adhering to all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. The Technician will also assist in recording operational data, reporting equipment issues, and coordinating with operations, maintenance, and safety teams to minimize downtime and maintain high operational standards.

Qualifications

  • Diploma, certificate, or vocational qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in terminal operations, tank farms, petrochemical plants, or oil and gas facilities, with familiarity in pumps, valves, pipelines, and storage tanks.
  • Knowledge of basic equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and use of hand tools and testing instruments.
  • Understanding of safety standards, permit-to-work systems, and procedures related to hazardous materials and industrial operations.
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions, standard operating procedures, and basic engineering drawings or P&IDs.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to safe, compliant, and reliable operations.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required by terminal operations.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, team-based environment.
  • Basic computer skills for logging data, completing reports, and using terminal management systems; prior exposure to SCADA or control systems is an advantage.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., safety, equipment handling, confined space, working at height) are an added benefit.
