Job Description

Responsibilities

Company Description PADIBERAS NASIONAL BERHAD (BERNAS) is Malaysia’s national rice industry player, evolving from a former government agency into a corporatised entity while maintaining its core responsibility for national food security. The organization plays a central role in ensuring a stable supply of rice and related products and services to communities across the country. Guided by the tagline “Nourishing the Nation,” BERNAS focuses on quality, reliability, and service that Malaysians have come to trust and expect. The company is operated by the people, for the people, fostering a sense of shared purpose and commitment to the nation’s well-being.

Role Description The Regional Farm Coordinator is a full-time, hybrid role based in Selangor, Malaysia, with some flexibility for work from home. This role oversees and coordinates paddy farming activities within an assigned region, ensuring alignment with BERNAS’ standards for productivity, quality, and sustainability. Day-to-day tasks include planning and monitoring crop cycles, supporting farmers with technical guidance, and facilitating the implementation of best agricultural practices. The coordinator collaborates with internal teams and external stakeholders, gathers and analyzes farm data, prepares reports on regional performance, and assists in the rollout of government and BERNAS initiatives related to food security. The role may involve regular site visits to farms, organizing training sessions for farmers, and helping to resolve operational issues on the ground.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of agriculture, preferably in rice or paddy farming, including farm operations, crop management, and basic agronomy.
  • Experience in field coordination or community engagement, with the ability to build positive relationships with farmers, local authorities, and internal teams.
  • Competence in data collection, analysis, and reporting, using spreadsheets or farm management tools to monitor productivity and performance metrics.
  • Organizational and planning skills to manage multiple farm sites, schedules, and activities while meeting operational targets and deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia, with the ability to deliver training, guidance, and feedback effectively.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid setting, including frequent field work and occasional remote tasks.
  • Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agribusiness, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Valid driving license and willingness to travel regularly within the region; prior experience working with rural communities or government-linked programs is an advantage.
