Primary English Tutor

The Primary English Tutor will help students develop strong foundations in reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and oral communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach English to primary school students according to their school level and learning needs.
• Strengthen students’ grammar, vocabulary, spelling, sentence construction, and punctuation.
• Guide students in comprehension techniques, including identifying key information, making inferences, and answering questions accurately.
• Teach composition planning, creative writing, situational writing, and editing skills.
• Support students in oral reading, listening comprehension, and spoken communication.
• Prepare age-appropriate worksheets, practice papers, homework, and revision materials.
• Mark assignments and provide clear, constructive feedback.
• Monitor students’ progress and recommend areas for further improvement.
• Prepare upper-primary students for school examinations and the PSLE where applicable.

Requirements

• Strong command of written and spoken English.
• Good knowledge of the primary English syllabus and examination formats.
• Able to explain grammar and writing techniques clearly.
• Patient, encouraging, and comfortable working with young learners.
• Previous experience teaching English, phonics, creative writing, or primary-level examination preparation is preferred.

Pay: $20.00 - $45.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
