Our client is a leading global digital platform operating across multiple international markets, serving millions of users worldwide. The organization is seeking an experienced Privacy Counsel to join its legal and compliance function, supporting complex privacy, data protection, and regulatory matters in a fast-paced technology environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a privacy lawyer who enjoys working cross-functionally with product, engineering, security, marketing, and business stakeholders on global privacy initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on global privacy and data protection laws, including GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, PDPA, and other international privacy frameworks.
- Support privacy compliance across products, platforms, marketing activities, and data-driven initiatives.
- Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs/DPIAs) and provide practical risk-based recommendations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate privacy-related contractual provisions, including data processing agreements and vendor contracts.
- Partner with business and technology teams to embed privacy-by-design principles into products and services.
- Assist with regulatory inquiries, investigations, and data subject rights requests.
- Monitor emerging privacy regulations and communicate legal developments to relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver privacy training and internal compliance guidance.
- Support third-party risk management, cross-border data transfer assessments, and incident response activities.
Requirements:
- Qualified lawyer with a law degree and admission to practice in at least one jurisdiction.
- Approximately 5+ years of post-qualification experience in privacy, data protection, technology, or commercial law.
- Experience gained within a technology company, digital platform, multinational corporation, or leading law firm.
- Strong working knowledge of international privacy regulations, particularly GDPR and APAC privacy frameworks.
- Experience advising on product, marketing, advertising technology, analytics, or cross-border data flows is advantageous.
- Commercially minded with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and drafting skills.
- Fluent English language skills, both written and verbal.
