Job Summary

The Kitchen Helper (Trainee Cook) supports daily kitchen operations while actively learning cooking skills under the guidance of senior chefs. This role is designed for individuals who want to grow into a Commis Chef within our Café’s Indian–Western fusion kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

1. Food Preparation & Learning

• Assist in basic food preparation (cutting, washing, marinating, portioning)
• Learn preparation of menu items such as:
• Pasta dishes (Aglio Olio, Masala Pasta)
• Pizza preparation (dough handling, topping, baking)
• Indian items (briyani prep, gravies, marination)
• Follow recipes and SOPs strictly
• Gradually handle simple cooking tasks under supervision

2. Cooking Skill Development (Important)

• Learn cooking techniques from chefs daily
• Understand kitchen workflow and timing during service
• Practice plating and presentation standards
• Progress from prep work → assisting → basic cooking → independent tasks
• Attend any internal training provided by the company

3. Kitchen Cleanliness & Hygiene

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness at all times
• Wash utensils, equipment, and keep workstations clean
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP)

4. Stock & Inventory Support

• Assist in receiving and storing stock (FIFO method)
• Organize chiller, freezer, and dry storage
• Inform supervisors of shortages

5. Kitchen Operations Support

• Assist chefs during service for smooth operations
• Help in plating and takeaway packing
• Support bulk prep (weekend briyani, sauces, marination)

Requirements

* Basic knowledge of cooking (Indian & Western cuisine preferred)

* Experience in a kitchen environment is an advantage

* Understanding of hygiene and food safety standards

* Ability to follow instructions and SOPs

* Team player with a positive attitude

* Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced environment

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: RM1,700.00 - RM2,200.00 per month
