Job Description

Responsibilities

About This Role

We're looking for a Business Development Manager who opens doors and closes deals.

At The Gap People (TGP), we are a Singapore-based social media agency where strategic storytelling meets social-first execution. We turn insights into content that drives measurable results. In this role, you'll build our new business pipeline from the ground up — finding the right prospects, starting the conversation, and owning the relationship until the ink is dry. You'll have a strong pitch team behind you to help win the business, but we need you to put us in front of the right people.

If you've done this before — walked into a market cold andbuilt something through your own initiative — keep reading.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Find and close new, high-value social media retainer accounts across key sectors (such as Fintech, NPOs, Medical/Public Health and more)
  • Identify decision-makers, craft targeted outreach, and get them to reply
  • Turn replies into qualified meetings and manage the momentum through to close
  • Work with our MD and pitch team to develop compelling proposals for prospects
  • Maintain a clean, honest pipeline and keep score on your own progress

Who You Are

You are proactive, self-directed, and accountable for outcomes. You're equally comfortable with a CMO and a cold prospect. You understand trust-based selling — persistent without being pushy. You thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments without needing perfect systems. You do real research before reaching out. And you're comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven track record in B2B business development, ideally in marketing services, media, or advertising
  • Familiar with Singapore's business landscape; regionalSEA experience is a strong advantage
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills — you can hold a room and build trust quickly
  • Experience managing a sales pipeline and reporting on progress
  • Self-starter who can operate independently with minimal supervision
  • Degree in Business, Marketing, or Communications preferred
