Job Purpose
The Manager, Communications & Culture is accountable for leading the planning, development, and execution of corporate communications and organisational culture initiatives to support Gas Malaysia’s strategic direction and transformation journey.
The role is responsible for translating corporate strategy, leadership direction, and business priorities into clear, consistent communication narratives and culture programmes that reinforce desired behaviours, strengthen employee engagement, and maintain organisational alignment.
The role also oversees corporate communications deliverables including Annual Report development, internal communications, leadership messaging, and crisis communications support, while ensuring alignment with Gas Malaysia’s Culture Beliefs, Core Values, Statement of Purpose, and Mission.
Principal Accountabilities
1) Corporate Communications & Strategic Messaging
- Develop and implement integrated corporate communications plans aligned with business priorities, transformation agenda, and leadership direction.
- Translate organisational strategy, business developments, and key initiatives into clear, structured, and consistent communication narratives.
- Ensure communications strengthen employee understanding of corporate direction, priorities, and expected outcomes.
- Maintain message discipline across all internal communication channels and platforms.
- Provide communications advisory support to leadership and internal stakeholders.
2) Annual Report & Corporate Narrative Development
- Lead the development of communications content for the Annual Report, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy, performance highlights, and future direction.
- Translate complex strategic, financial, and operational information into clear and engaging narratives
- Coordinate inputs from multiple divisions and ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment in messaging.
- Ensure the Annual Report reflects Gas Malaysia’s corporate identity, values, and positioning.
- Manage timelines, review processes, and content quality to meet governance and publication standards
3) Content Development & Internal Communications
- Oversee development of internal communications including bulletins, leadership updates, business announcements, and employee communications.
- Ensure timely and consistent dissemination of information related to new businesses, corporate developments, and organisational changes.
- Drive clarity and relevance of internal communications to ensure employees are well‑informed and aligned.
- Establish strong editorial standards for tone, accuracy, and professionalism across all content.
- Manage internal communication channels and platforms to ensure effective message delivery.

4) Leadership Communications & Engagement
- Lead development of leadership communication materials including speeches, key messages, townhall scripts, and strategic announcements.
- Ensure leadership messaging consistently reinforces Culture Beliefs, Core Values, and organisational priorities.
- Support leadership engagements by ensuring clarity of communication intent and audience alignment.
- Strengthen leadership storytelling capability to improve engagement and message impact.
- Ensure consistency between leadership communication and broader corporate messaging.
5) Organisational Culture Management & Integration
- Drive execution of culture initiatives aligned with Gas Malaysia’s Culture Beliefs, Core Values, Statement of Purpose, and Mission.
- Translate culture frameworks into practical engagement programmes and communication strategies.
- Ensure continuous reinforcement of desired behaviours through structured engagement platforms.
- Partner with HR and leadership teams to integrate culture into daily practices and leadership behaviours.
- Monitor effectiveness of culture initiatives and ensure alignment with organisational goals.
6) Crisis & Sensitive Communications Management
- Support the development and execution of crisis communication plans and protocols.
- Coordinate internal messaging during sensitive situations to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
- Work closely with Public Relations & Brand team to align internal and external messaging.
- Advise stakeholders on communication approach during high‑risk or complex situations.
- Ensure messages are delivered in a timely, responsible, and controlled manner.
7) Communication Governance & Integration
- Establish governance, workflows, and approval processes for corporate communications.
- Ensure consistency across content, creative, digital, and engagement platforms.
- Maintain alignment between communications, culture initiatives, and stakeholder messaging.
- Uphold professional standards, compliance, and organisational protocols.
- Drive integration across Corporate Affairs functions to ensure a single, coherent narrative.
8) Responsibility Towards Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS)
- Responsible for understanding, complying with and applying the ABMS requirements, and the relevant Companies’ policies and standards. To take part in identifying risk factors and treatments and embeds bribery and corruption prevention.
9) Responsibility Towards Safety and Health
- To perform duties in a safe and healthy manner. To work according to the instructions and always complying with safety and health rules, procedures and practices in order to maintain safe, healthy and conducive working environment.
10) Responsibility Toward Information Security Management System (ISMS)
- To be responsible in protecting Gas Malaysia's information assets and to ensure that all breaches of information security, actual or suspected, are reported in protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all information is maintained. To ensure that information is accessible by all employees according to their respective business needs and eligibility. To ensure that information is protected against unauthorised access and at the same time meeting the contractual, regulatory and legislative requirements.
Key requirements for this role include:
- Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, content development, or organisational culture.
- Proven experience managing internal communications, leadership messaging, or corporate narrative development.
- Strong background in writing, storytelling, and content development
- Experience supporting Annual Report development or similar corporate publications.
- Exposure to organisational transformation, change communication, or culture initiatives.
