About the Role

Chief Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring the operational integrity, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability of mechanical systems and equipment onboard the offshore drilling unit. The role involves preventive maintenance, repair works, equipment diagnostics, and supporting safe and efficient rig operations.

Responsibilities

• Execute planned maintenance activities for mechanical equipment and drilling machinery
• Perform troubleshooting, inspection, repair, and replacement of mechanical components
• Maintain critical equipment including drilling machinery, hoisting equipment, prime movers, anchor windlass, and related systems
• Ensure compliance with QHSE requirements and safety-critical responsibilities
• Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, emergency drills, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Provide technical guidance and support to maintenance crew members

Qualifications

• Diploma / Certificate / Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent
• 5–8 years of experience as a Rig Mechanic or in a marine/offshore mechanical environment
• Experience with NOV equipment or equivalent is preferred

Required Skills

• Strong troubleshooting skills, including engine diagnostics using laptop tools
• Good planning, communication, and leadership skills
