HeyHi is seeking a Senior AI & Machine Learning Engineer to join our Singapore team. In this senior role, you will lead the design, architecture, and deployment of intelligent systems that personalise learning experiences at scale. You will mentor junior engineers, set technical direction for AI and machine learning initiatives, and work closely with product, engineering, and leadership to shape the future of our EdTech platform. Job scope

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable, production-grade AI/ML models and systems for educational applications.
• Architect end-to-end AI/ML pipelines including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring (MLOps).
• Drive research and experimentation with LLMs, Agentic AI, NLP, recommendation systems, and adaptive learning algorithms.
• Partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to translate complex user needs into intelligent, measurable solutions.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior AI/ML engineers, fostering a culture of engineering excellence.
• Define best practices for model development, code quality, testing, reproducibility, and responsible AI.
• Own the performance, reliability, and scalability of deployed solutions, including continuous monitoring, retraining, and optimisation.
• Evaluate and introduce emerging AI tools, frameworks, and techniques to keep HeyHi at the cutting edge of EdTech innovation.
• Contribute to technical roadmaps, architectural decisions, and long-term AI strategy.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML systems, or data engineering, with a proven track record of shipping AI/ML products to production.
• Deep proficiency in Python and strong experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Hugging Face.
• Proven experience fine-tuning and evaluating LLMs/SLMs on domain-specific data, including RAG, prompt engineering, and model benchmarking.
• Strong experience with agentic AI frameworks and patterns (e.g., LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen, CrewAI) including multi-agent orchestration, tool use, planning, and expert routing.
• Hands-on experience designing and deploying knowledge graphs and graph databases, including ontology modelling and schema design for domain data.
• Experience with multimodal AI — speech (ASR, prosody) and/or vision (OCR, handwriting, diagram) — is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and lead technical initiatives from concept to delivery.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills in a cross-functional environment.
• Passion for education and a genuine interest in using AI to improve learning outcomes.
