We are partnering with a leading global technology-driven organisation to hire a Principal Kubernetes Platform Engineer to help build and evolve the cloud-native platform that powers large-scale research, analytics, and mission-critical business applications.
This is a highly visible technical role suited to a Kubernetes Subject Matter Expert (SME) who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges through software engineering, automation, and platform innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate large-scale Kubernetes platforms supporting critical production workloads.
- Lead the development of platform capabilities that improve the developer experience through automation and self-service tooling.
- Design and develop Kubernetes-native solutions, including operators, controllers, and platform integrations.
- Build internal software and automation tools using Golang and/or Python.
- Drive platform scalability, performance optimisation, capacity management, and workload orchestration.
- Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines and GitOps deployment frameworks.
- Improve observability across the platform through monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting solutions.
- Partner with engineering and infrastructure teams to enhance reliability, security, and operational effectiveness.
- Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Advocate for SRE principles, automation-first thinking, and engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Expert-level Kubernetes administration, architecture, and troubleshooting experience.
- Strong software engineering capabilities using Golang and/or Python.
- Deep Linux systems administration experience.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and container platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or similar.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Strong knowledge of platform reliability, scalability, performance, and operational best practices.
- Experience developing Kubernetes operators, controllers, or platform tooling.
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes networking, security, and workload orchestration.
- Strong software engineering and API development experience.
