Company Overview

We are a fast-growing health & wellness and beauty retail company headquartered in Johor Bahru, with an extensive retail network across Malaysia.

As we continue to expand our retail operations, we are looking for an experienced and hands-on HR Manager to strengthen our people operations across HQ and multi-outlet retail operations. This role will play a key role in building effective HR practices, supporting workforce growth, strengthening employee management, and ensuring consistent HR execution across the organization.


Role Summary

The HR Manager is responsible for leading and managing the full spectrum of Human Resources across HQ and a multi-outlet retail environment. This role oversees HR operations, employee relations, recruitment, workforce planning, performance management, HR governance, compliance, and continuous improvement of HR processes to support business growth.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on HR leader who understands retail operations, is able to work closely with business leaders and operational teams, and has the capability to establish scalable HR practices in a fast-paced retail environment.


Key Responsibilities

1. HR Operations & Employee Relations

  • Oversee the full spectrum of HR operations, including employee records, HR documentation, leave administration, confirmation, transfer, promotion, and employee exit processes.

  • Ensure consistent implementation of HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook across HQ and all retail outlets.

  • Manage employee relations matters including disciplinary issues, grievances, investigations, and conflict resolution.

  • Provide HR guidance and support to outlet managers in managing employee-related matters.

  • Lead and guide HR team members to ensure effective HR service delivery and operational excellence.


2. Recruitment & Workforce Planning

  • Lead end-to-end recruitment activities, including manpower planning, sourcing, interviewing, selection, onboarding, and confirmation.

  • Work closely with department heads and outlet managers to identify manpower requirements and hiring priorities.

  • Support workforce planning and staffing coordination across HQ and retail outlets.

  • Monitor manpower distribution, turnover trends, and recruitment effectiveness.

  • Develop recruitment strategies to support business expansion and retail operational needs.


3. Performance Management & Employee Development

  • Lead performance management processes, including KPI setting, performance reviews, appraisal cycles, and Performance Improvement Plans (PIP).

  • Work with department heads and outlet leaders to improve employee performance, accountability, and productivity.

  • Support employee development, engagement, retention, and career growth initiatives.

  • Strengthen communication between HQ and retail teams to enhance employee experience.


4. HR Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Malaysian Employment Act, Industrial Relations requirements, statutory regulations, and company policies.

  • Develop, review, and continuously improve HR policies, SOPs, employment contracts, and HR guidelines.

  • Strengthen HR documentation standards, internal controls, and compliance practices.

  • Ensure consistent HR governance and practices across HQ and all retail outlets.


5. HR Systems & Process Improvement

  • Standardize HR processes and best practices across HQ and retail operations.

  • Drive improvements in HR workflows, documentation, reporting processes, and operational efficiency.

  • Support HR system enhancement and digitalization initiatives.

  • Utilize HR reports and data insights to support management decision-making and continuous improvement.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline.

  • Minimum 5–8 years of HR experience, with at least 2–3 years in a managerial role.

  • Experience in retail, beauty, wellness, healthcare, or multi-location operations is highly preferred.

  • Proven experience managing HR operations supporting multiple outlets or frontline employees.

  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian Employment Act, Industrial Relations, and statutory compliance.

  • Strong experience in recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and workforce planning.

  • Experience in HR policy development, SOP improvement, or HR system implementation will be an added advantage.

  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

  • Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment.

  • Ability to work closely with business leaders and operational teams.

  • Able to communicate effectively in English and Mandarin.
