About Precena

Precena is a HR consulting and training firm specializing in design thinking, leadership development, coaching, and digital transformation across APAC region. Our global HQ is in Tokyo and our regional HQ is in Singapore. With a portfolio of digital initiatives and technology‑enabled services, Precena is expanding its capabilities into AI‑powered solutions that elevate customer experience, drive operational efficiency, and enable new business models.

About This Role

You will design, build, and deliver production‑grade AI agents and automation workflows that enhance business operations, starting with a B2C digital marketing agent. Reporting directly to the Head of Digital Strategy, you will translate business processes into reliable, scalable, and measurable AI‑driven solutions that integrate with existing platforms and systems. This role offers continuous learning and growth opportunities in the real-world application of AI, workflow orchestration, API integration, and software engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

AI Agent & Workflow Development

Design, develop, test, and deploy AI agents and automation workflows using modern LLM APIs and agent frameworks that execute complex, multi‑step tasks.

Translate end‑to‑end business workflows into structured logic and prompt sequences for automated execution.

Implement both code‑centric and tool‑assisted workflows using automation platforms and orchestration tools.

Integrate AI components with internal systems and data sources via APIs, webhooks, event triggers, and direct database interaction.

Apply security best practices for handling sensitive data, API keys, and access control, ensuring compliance with relevant policies.

Production Engineering

Build backend services, API endpoints, and agent interfaces that are reliable, secure, and maintainable in production.

Implement software engineering best practices: version control, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, logging, and error handling.

Apply security best practices for handling sensitive data, API keys, and access control, ensuring compliance with relevant policies.

Performance Optimization & Quality

Monitor agent outputs and system behavior to maintain performance, cost efficiency, and response quality.

Refine prompts, workflows, and integrated logic based on real‑world usage, feedback loops, and evaluation metrics.

Identify, address, and mitigate hallucinations, errors, and other quality issues in model‑driven outputs.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

Produce clear technical documentation including system architecture, API contracts, integration guides, workflow maps, and prompt libraries.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to communicate technical design and enable adoption.

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills

Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript and modern backend development.

Experience building API‑driven services, integrations, and end‑to‑end software systems.

Practical use of LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Claude) and prompt engineering for automated workflows.

Familiarity with workflow automation, orchestration, or integration tools (e.g., n8n, Make, Zapier) and modular automation pipelines.

Understanding of workflow design, state management, and asynchronous task handling.

Engineering Best Practices

Strong foundation in software engineering principles: testing, documentation, version control, deployment workflows, and observability.

Ability to build and debug networked services, handle retries, fallbacks, performance tracing, and cloud‑native deployments.

Applied AI Experience

Experience creating AI systems beyond simple prompt responses — i.e., multi‑step reasoning, logic chaining, or workflow orchestration with agents.

Expertise evaluating model output quality, handling risks like hallucinations, and refining logic for consistent results.

Experience using tools like Codex and Claude Code for AI‑assisted code generation, along with awareness of their limitations.

Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a customer-centric and design thinking mindset.

Effective communication skills with the ability to articulate technical decisions to non‑technical stakeholders.

Comfortable working independently in a remote environment, with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently in English across technical discussions, documentation, meetings, and stakeholder interactions.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with agentic frameworks like LangChain, OpenAI Agents SDK, AutoGen, or similar toolkits.

Exposure to RAG pipelines and vector databases (e.g., Chroma, Pinecone, Weaviate).

Familiarity with frontend UI frameworks for dashboards or internal tools (e.g., React, Next.js, Streamlit).

Prior work on production‑grade AI or automation systems integrated with enterprise platforms.

Who You Are

You are a practical engineer (3 years and above working experience) with an AI‑first mindset who builds real systems, not isolated prototypes. You thrive at the intersection of product, data, and engineering, enjoy solving complex workflows with automated solutions, and take ownership of delivering resilient, maintainable technology. You balance curiosity about AI with disciplined delivery practices and are eager to enable business value through intelligent automation.
