Job Description & Requirements

A welder joins metal parts together using specialized equipment and high heat, ensuring accurate and safe connections for various applications like construction, manufacturing, and shipbuilding. They interpret blueprints, source materials, measure and cut metal, and complete welds according to specifications.

Key responsibilities of a welder include:

• Reading and interpreting blueprints: Understanding designs, specifications, and diagrams to determine the appropriate welding process.
• Operating welding equipment: Utilizing various welding techniques like MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
• Sourcing and preparing materials: Measuring, cutting, and preparing metal pieces for welding.
• Performing welding tasks: Joining metal parts with precision and accuracy.
• Inspecting welds: Ensuring structural integrity and quality.
• Maintaining equipment and tools: Ensuring proper functioning and safety.

Depending on the specific role and industry, welders may also be responsible for:

• Shaping and polishing metal after welding: Ensuring a smooth and polished finish.
