Engineering Manager - Stablecoins & Digital Asset Payments (New Venture)

Our client is building a new digital-asset payments venture from inside one of Asia's fastest-growing, multi-market fintech groups and backed by tier-1 global investors. Think wallets, stablecoins, and on/off-ramp infrastructure built with the speed of a startup and backing and resources of a multicountry fintech group.

We're now hiring the founding Engineering Manager to lead this build from zero to one.

The role

You'll be one of the first technical hires on the team - recruiting the founding engineers, setting the architecture, and making the build-vs-buy calls on everything from wallet infra to custody integration. This is hands-on: you're close enough to the code to make credible technical calls, and senior enough to run vendor conversations and own the roadmap end to end.

What you'll own

• Engineering delivery across wallet, payments, custody integration, KYC, ledger and account management
• Hiring and shaping the founding engineering team — bar, culture, rituals, from day one
• The integration framework for plugging in best-in-class infrastructure partners at speed
• Build-vs-buy decisions, defended with conviction
• An AI-native engineering practice as the default — not a bolt-on
• Close partnership with product, design, compliance and legal across multiple regulatory jurisdictions

What you bring

• 10+ years in software engineering, with 4+ years leading engineering teams at modern payments company, digital bank, crypto exchange, or regulated fintech
• Shipped both regulated financial products and on-chain products
• Full-stack depth, able to make architectural calls across the stack
• Built and hired distributed engineering teams across time zones
• Comfortable operating under real regulatory scrutiny (MiCA, VARA, or equivalents)
• You use AI tooling as a default in how you build and ship — and have a point of view on how it changes team shape
• Founder energy — you've built at a startup or scale-up, comfortable with ambiguity, and you ship, you are not just a manager, but a player coach.

Strong plus

• Web3 architecture - Hands-on with MPC/HSM, signing infrastructure, or wallet architecture
• Background and hands on production experience across one or more of blockchain or distributed ledger tech, wallet and payment infrastructure, core banking platforms and ledger management, or fraud/AML systems
• You've had experience as one of the founding engineers or first engineering leaders on a new product line or business vertical
